Starkville police investigate weekend shooting

Starkville police are looking to determine who is responsible for a shooting that wounded two people.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville police are investigating a weekend shooting that injured two people.

According to the Starkville Police Department, police officers and Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies responded to a wreck early Saturday morning on Highway 82, between Highway 25 and Highway 389.

The officers found a vehicle that was off the roadway. They also found the vehicle’s four occupants.

Two occupants were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The other two were not hurt.

Both victims were transported to hospitals. Their current conditions are not known. 

Police believe someone opened fire from another vehicle.

According to the Starkville Police Department, the four people were traveling to their home in Columbus.
