Lee County collision seriously injures tractor driver

The wreck involved an 18-wheeler and a farm tractor.

SHANNON, Miss. (WTVA) - A tractor driver was seriously hurt after an 18-wheeler collided with his tractor. 


The wreck involved an 18-wheeler and a farm tractor.

The wreck happened on Monday afternoon in the southbound lane of Highway 45 Alternate near County Road 506.

The 18-wheeler suffered severe damage to its front.

The tractor lost a front wheel but remained upright.

Law enforcement officers and medical personnel responded to the scene.

A helicopter also responded.

On Tuesday, the Mississippi Highway Patrol identified the tractor driver as Ronald Herndon, 65, of Shannon. 

Public Information Officer Jason Roe said the tractor was rear-ended by the 18-wheeler.
