STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Mississippi State University is warning students to be aware of a phone scam.
According to the university, the caller is trying to trick students, particularly international students, into giving out personal and financial information over the phone.

This person may claim to be with a federal agency, such as the FBI, IRS or the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Please do not believe the caller," the university stated.
Students are reminded that such agencies do not contact people this way.
“Nor would they require you to provide such information or pay any funds by indirect means.”
People are urged to contact the university’s police department if they receive a similar phone call.
