TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Tupelo Police released more details about Saturday morning's officer-involved shooting near the Tupelo Children's Mansion.
Tupelo Police Capt. Charles McDougald said New Albany Police and Union County deputies chased Cory Lynch, 37, early that morning after Lynch fled from officers who tried to detain him on a narcotics warrant.
The chase ended on Hillsdale Drive near East Main Street in Tupelo where Lynch ran onto the Mansion’s property, McDougald said. Police officers found him there and the shooting happened.
Lynch was transported to the hospital. Investigators recovered a gun from the scene.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Tupelo Police anticipate charges of aggravated assault and felony fleeing. More charges are possible.
McDougald said Lynch was also classified as a “delinquent registered sex offender” from Arkansas.
