COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - A restaurant in downtown Columbus reopened on Thursday after closing down for months.
Zachary's, located on North 5th Street, opened its doors to customers again after a fire destroyed some of it in April.
The fire happened in the early morning hours of April 28.
The flames engulfed the restaurant and left heavy water and smoke damage.
Employees and contractors worked months to rebuild the restaurant.
Zachary's owner, Doug Pellum, said the restaurant has a new deck and an extended patio on the outside.
The additions seat 60 extra people.
The kitchen is brand new and it has a new prep table.
One of Zachary's regular customers, Jessica Bailey, said she's been waiting for months to eat lunch at her favorite restaurant again.
"We really just love being here...it's a meeting place for people to come and eat some great food and have a good time," she said.
