TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Workers began repairs on a bridge in Lee County on Monday.
The bridge located on Palmetto Road needed to be repaired within 30 days or would have been shut down by the state.
Workers reinforced the concrete around the bridge. Lee County Road Manager Tim Allred estimates about 8,000 people travel on the bridge daily.
He estimates it will cost about $25,000 to fix the bridge. Workers will add more dirt and rocks to reinforce the bridge even more.
However, Allred said workers will have to wait until the weather clears.
