The Tupelo Police Department confirmed James Heath Kitchens was a Tupelo officer from January 2019 to May 2020.
"No further employment details may be released as that is a personnel matter," according to a Tupelo police statement issued Monday morning.

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - The Oktibbeha County deputy coroner identified a woman who died in a fatal car incident this weekend.
Investigators with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Office responded to Riviera Road around 8 p.m. Saturday.
They found a pedestrian involved with a car incident, said Lt. Brett Watson.
The victim was transported to the OCH Regional Medical Center where she later died.
Billy Miller identified the victim as Brittany Phillips, 26.
Her body was sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
Sheriff Steve Gladney confirmed James Heath Kitchens, 30, was arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Kitchens is held at the Oktibbeha County Jail.
His bond is set at $25,000.00
