WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - West Point issued a burn ban for the city due to extremely dry weather.
West Point Fire Chief Ken Wilbourne said the burn ban affects residents who have a burn permit.
The fire department issues burn permits for residents to burn limbs, leaves, grass and any natural products.
The permit excludes plastic and rubber.
Wilbourne said the ban is contingent upon the weather conditions.
He said the wind makes it worse because the air will make the fire burn faster and spread quicker.
