WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - Members of Strong Hill Baptist Church are helping children with their distance learning.
Ardrena Powell, a volunteer, said fellow church member, Nicole Coggins, came up with the idea to host virtual learning at the church.
The program is just for students who attend the church.
Many students may not have access to quality internet to complete their online school work. The church program aims to help those students and parents who may work throughout the day.
Powell said church member and retired teacher, Marry Robertson, also got on board. She and Robertson help kids in all grade levels with their school work.
As a health precaution, the women check each student's temperature prior to entering. They make sure the kids are spread out and are wearing masks
She added the West Point School District also provides lunch and breakfast for the students.
Church members can drop off their children from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
