WEST POINT, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi Department of Education dropped off the first batch of Chromebooks for West Point students Wednesday afternoon.
The state legislature awarded $200 million to provide technology to school districts across the state in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
West Point School Superintendent Burnell McDonald said more than 2,000 Chromebooks were delivered Wednesday.
Students in grades 3-12 will receive one. Students in pre-K through 2nd grade will receive iPads next.
McDonald is thankful his students will have the devices they need to succeed.
Students will receive the last batch of devices by mid-November.
