Laura Kramer, who works for the Tupelo Parks and Recreation Department and heads the Tupelo Futbol Club, said the community is supportive and she’s confident everything will be back to normal soon.
The fields and facilitates often host soccer tournaments that bring in thousands of parents and children.
"Soccer has grown a lot in popularity; a lot since the early 1990s,” she added. “And with soccer tournaments just around the corner and the remainder of the season yet to be played here for the youngsters, officials here at Park and Rec. say they want to get things ready to go as soon as possible."
Parks Director Alex Farned said his department will work to replace the roof immediately.
