JUMPERTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) - A fire chief for a Prentiss County volunteer fire department is accused of embezzlement.

On October 26, the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department conducted a search warrant at the house of Nathan Wesley Vuncannon, 28, of Jumpertown.

Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar says Vuncannon was the active fire chief for the Jumpertown Fire Department.

Vuncannon is accused of embezzling from the fire department between April 2017 and October 2017.

Tolar says the search resulted in several items being seized. The investigation led to Vuncannon's arrest.

His bond was set at $120,000.

Tolar says the case is still under investigation and will be presented to the next Prentiss County grand jury.

The new acting fire chief is now John Wayne Eaton. He says things are operating as normal.

The Jumpertown Fire Department is currently taking volunteers.
