TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) – North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo is no longer restricting visitors because of the flu.
On Thursday, the hospital announced it has returned to normal visitation policies.
“Thank you for helping us prevent the spread of flu to our patients and staff,” the hospital announced.
Earlier this month, the hospital implemented restrictions on patient visitation.
This included limiting visitors to one per patient at a time, as well as not allowing children under the age of 14 to visit.
Still, doctors advise people to continue to be cautious.
"I don't think I've seen much of a taper of flu cases at this point," said Dr. Richmond McCarty of NMMC-Saltillo. "We still need to be mindful of all the precautions you should take like good hygiene and avoid crowded places."
Dr. McCarty also advises people to not wait around with simple symptoms.
