OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - A wreck Thursday morning in Oxford claimed the lives of two people.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 7:43 at Highway 278 and F.D. Buddy East Parkway.
The wreck involved two vehicles: a car and a Panola County garbage truck.
Police say the driver of the car, 40-year-old John Ellington, died at the scene of the crash.
Medics transported a girl to the hospital in Oxford where she died shortly after arriving there.
Medics also transported a boy to the hospital and later transported him to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He later died from his injuries.
Update - Oxford wreck claims third life
The driver of the garbage truck received non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation is underway into what led to the wreck.
