ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) - Two men qualified to run for police chief in Aberdeen.
City Clerk Melissa Moore identified the two qualifiers as Christopher Dobbins and Quinell Shumpert.
Longtime Aberdeen police chief Henry Randle died on May 16, 2021.
Aberdeen voters will elect a new chief of police in a special election on July 6.
Longtime police chief Henry Randle died on May 16 following a battle with cancer.
Dobbins currently serves as interim chief of police.
Shumpert previously worked for the Aberdeen Police Department as assistant police chief. He's been working for the Monroe County Sheriff's Department which is located in Aberdeen.
