TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - With the threat of severe weather, some people in Tupelo took shelter at the dome on the high school’s campus.
People know it's important to have a safe place to shelter when severe weather hits. Many brought things to keep them occupied, so it was evident they planned to be there a while.

Clarissa McFarland and her family sheltered at the dome this afternoon.
"Then number one goal is to stay safe and if we know what's available, we're using our available resources and we're appreciative of the city having these here for us," said McFarland.
The shelter remained open to the public until around 6:30 pm.
