TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA)- Tupelo's city planner Pat Faulkner said the safety of residents is his main concern when candidates place their campaign signs around town.
Faulkner said there are rules and regulations when placing signs around town.
The city doesn't allow signs within 10 feet of the street.
There are some corners with stop signs where people have to place a sign even further back away from the road.
Faulkner added if a sign is spotted in the incorrect position, a code enforcer will pick the sign up and take it to city hall.
“We will bring them in and hang onto them for a while because if somebody wants to come back and get them, they can and it will give us a chance to explain to them where they can and cannot go."
