TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The pandemic halted some programs at the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society but now things are looking up for the organization.
Volunteering is making a comeback after staff put it on hold due to the pandemic. It joins a new program, Doggy Adventures, that lets people connect with the pets before deciding to bring them home.
Doggy Adventures kicked off last month. Transport Coordinator Amanda Bannon said it can be hard to determine a pet’s personality when they’re in the kennel, so this program is designed to get them out into the world to interact with other pets and people.
Bannon said the program will help the pets go home with the perfect match for their demeanor.
“They can take a dog out of the shelter for a few hours...bring them to the park, go get a puppucino," said Bannon. "Just spend some time with the dog and help us to know more about the dog’s personality, what they like and don't like.”
