TUPELO, Miss (WTVA) - White Hill Baptist Church hosted a unique prayer service for the community Saturday morning.
The Leader of Prayer Ministry organized the event because she felt like in the midst of a pandemic, people could use a little prayer.
"We just want people to know how important it is to pray about everything," Mary Samuels said.
The prayer ministry wore masks and gloves as members drove through to be prayed for.
"We're just asking everyone to come out for a special prayer because we know we need prayer," Samuels said. "The way we are l living today and how our society is going; we have the covid and we have a lot of up rest in the country so we just wanted to come out and pray."
Locals and church members drove through because they felt like God led them to be there.
"And when I got up this morning it was like a holy spirit uplifting spirit for me," Michelle Doss said. "So when I got here and went through the line to get prayed for, the ladies that prayed for me I knew it was nobody but Jesus because the spirit connected with me."
Vickie Buckingham said she came because she had some things on her heart.
"I had some things on my heart and decisions and I just needed some prayer over," Buckingham said. "Showing me how to trust the Lord and him guiding me. These prayer warriors here know Jesus."
Due to the coronavirus, the church debated if the event would happen, but the leader of the prayer ministry believes this event was very important and people should understand why it is important to pray for one another.
"Prayer is something we all need to be doing because it's so needed in this world today," Samuels said. "The event was very important and people should understand why it is important to pray for one another. Prayer is something we all need to be doing because it's so needed in this world today."
