TISHOMINGO, Miss. (WTVA) - For several years, Tishomingo police make sure every child enjoys their Christmas and this year is no different.

This tradition has continued for 17 years, and for the Tishomingo Police Department, giving gifts is the first order of business this holiday season. To do so, the department looks to their community for help.

"Well, we have a road block every year at the four-way stop," Chief Mike Kemp said. "A lot of people come by and drop money into a bucket. We have several churches and organizations that give us money and we always have raised enough money to take care of our children."

Being Santa is not an easy task. The police officers do not have to go around the world in one night, but even they know being one of Santa's helpers is hard work.

"We'll all be stressed out and tired," Chief Kemp said. "But when we see the children come in and get their gifts, it makes it all worth it."

No matter how much work it takes, these everyday hero's at the Tishomingo Police Department make sure every child has a box with a bow.
