JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - A Tippah County man faces federal charges after apparently sending and receiving child pornography through a computer connected to wi-fi at a public library and the county courthouse.

The federal complaint says Jeffrey DeWayne Hopkins is accused of using the systems to download and transmit images from 2014 to April of this year.

Federal investigators went to Hopkins home in Ripley on April 11 and discovered a file-sharing program and equipment and software to locate and access wireless internet connections.

The complaint says Hopkins admitted to sending and receiving child porn for nearly a decade and had over five gigabytes of images on his computer.

Investigators say they also found evidence Hopkins had taken photos of minor girls through the windows of a home.

The three charges include distribution of child porn, receipt of child porn and attempted production of child porn.

Hopkins is currently being held in the Lafayette County jail pending a detention hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Oxford.
