TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Local small business owners paired with a business mentor Monday night, in hopes of gaining enough insight to win "The Pitch," a small business plan competition.
Twelve business owners explained their plans to a group of mentors at the Community Development Foundation in Tupelo. WTVA sponsors the annual competition.
We caught up with some of the participants who shared why they decided to be a part of "The Pitch" this year.
"My daughter...it was her idea. It will eventually become her business by herself," said Annette Bannerman with Pawfee. "My husband and I have our own business. We can help get her going.”
Tiffany Grice shared why she participated.
“They can help you build up your idea and eventually get you into a brick-and-mortar. Whatever you wish to do," said Grice of Kreecher's Creations.
Mentors chose four small business owners to move to the next round which will be October 4th. On that date, a panel will choose the overall winner.
The four finalists and their businesses are listed below:
- Ontonio Jackson, Full Charge Batteries
- Tiffany Grice, Kreecher's Creations
- Kendall Walker, Love Your Selfie
- Stephanie Hall, Sera and Soul
