THAXTON, Miss. (WTVA) - County workers continued clean-up Monday after a round of severe weather Sunday night caused damage in the Pontotoc County town of Thaxton.
We talked to Jim Austin who lives in Thaxton.
He said he was watching WTVA's severe weather coverage when the high winds blew into Thaxton.
"We were watching the news and Chelsea said in seven minutes it will be here, and by the time we got to the storm house it was there," said Austin.
The storm house is near where Austin lives.
He said they made it just in time to the shelter.
Meanwhile, county work crews were cleaning up around his home, which was not damaged in Sunday's storms.
County Supervisor Mike McGregor said there is a lot of work to do in Thaxton.
"We just got started. It'll be three or four days of cleanup work," said McGregor.
McGregor said residents in Thaxton can get help from the county if they call the Chancery Clerk's office in Pontotoc.
