TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Police in Tupelo arrested a teenager accused of stealing a sport utility vehicle, not stopping for officers while driving it and crashing the vehicle in a Walmart parking lot.
Devalon Ford, 17, of Tupelo, is charged with grand larceny, theft of a motor vehicle and felony fleeing. Police said he will be tried as an adult because of previous felony charges.
According to officers, they tried stopping the SUV he was driving early Wednesday on West Main Street, but he wouldn't stop.
The vehicle, stolen from Joann Street, crashed into a pole near the garden department at the West Main Walmart.
Police said Ford took off on foot but they arrested him a few minutes later in the 300 block of North Foster.
