STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Last year, no fans could tailgate on college campuses throughout the SEC, so this year fans are going even bigger to make up for lost time.
However, no group of fans know how to tailgate better than the Junction Juke Joint.
For over a decade, the group has set up their tailgate in the heart of the Junction.
Bringing the tunes, the food, and the lawn games, these Mississippi State fans gather every home game to cheer on their Bulldogs.
“This is like my husband’s hunting season because he doesn’t hunt," explained Junction Juke Joint tailgater, Catherine Smith. "This is like his thing. He prepares for this week’s in advance.”
Smith said her husband is up and in the Junction by 4 AM on Friday to claim their turf.
Once it's all set up the next day, it provides the ultimate tailgating experience to over 20 families.
Tailgater Maggie Wood said over the years, this weekly party has created one big, crazy, Dawg-loving family.
“You get to see everybody that you don’t see on a regular basis," she said. "Some of the people that come here, we talk to them throughout year, but this is when we get together and we’re a family.”
Both Wood and Smith said these are the days they live for each year.
No matter how much stress it causes, they said they wouldn't change the experience for anything.
“Everybody says you’ve got to raise them right. We’re raising these kids right." said Wood. "This is what it’s about when it comes to fall football in the south.”
