HORN LAKE, Miss. (WTVA) - A suspect is in custody following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) confirmed the shooting in Horn Lake, which is in DeSoto County and is a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee.
According to WMC-TV in Memphis, deputies with the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from the Tunica County Sherriff's Office that a concrete truck was involved in a hit-and-run. Tunica County is southwest of DeSoto County.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle using spike strips but to no avail.
The driver of the truck rammed into other vehicles, according to the report. Deputies said they thought the driver of the truck would kill someone, so they opened fire on the driver.
The driver was flown to a hospital in Memphis, but his condition is unknown at this time.
Investigators believe the suspect was an employee of the concrete truck company, but that has not been confirmed at this time, according to WMC-TV. The suspect has not been identified.
One victim was injured in the crash. That person was taken to a local hospital in non-critical condition.
Officials said MBI has been called to the scene.
