OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Student body leaders at Ole Miss are condemning how the state College Board selected Glenn Boyce as the university’s new chancellor.
The Associated Student Body leaders released a statement Friday saying they had the following issues with the board:

Protestors gathered at The Inn at Ole Miss where the announcement was to be made.
- a lack of transparency and communication with campus constituencies, particularly students, during the search process;
- its exclusion and removal of students from the search process and the subsequent announcement;
- its lack of accountability, in its general governing practices, to members of the university communities in the state.
Boyce was named the new chancellor last Friday, but the formal announcement was canceled because of student protesters, one of whom was removed by campus police from the ballroom where the announcement was going to take place.
Hours later, Boyce was introduced to reporters on a conference call.
The ASB leadership wants the board to establish new policies and practices that will enable students, faculty, staff, alumni and other university stakeholders to take part in decisions affecting the university and its members.
“We are eager to develop a productive relationship with Dr. Boyce," said the ASB leaders. "We remain hopeful that he will follow through with his commitment to a student-centered approach.”
