Five new Early Learning Collaboratives have been approved, giving more children a chance to get a head start on their education.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - Five new Early Learning Collaboratives have been approved, giving more children a chance to get a head start on their education.

The Mississippi State Board of Education voted today, Dec. 20, to add the five ELCs to the current list of 14 to provide early childhood education programs to 4-year-old students.

They are:

- Cleveland School District

- George County School District

- Hattiesburg Public School District

- Oxford School District

- Marion County School District

The Early Learning Collaborative Act of 2013 established the ELC program, which provides funding to local communities to establish, expand, support and facilitate the successful implementation of quality early childhood education and development services.
