STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville residents are prepared to vote in the special election on Thursday at city hall.
Residents will vote for the 1 percent tax increase on food, beverages and hotels, and those who live in Ward 5 will elect a new alderman.

Wednesday is the last day for residents to mail in their ballots.
City Clerk Lesa Hardin said the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.
