STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) —Residents enjoyed a warm and sunny Friday at the park after it reopened this week.
Starkville’s parks closed because of the coronavirus.
The Board of Aldermen voted to reopen the city's parks and fields on Thursday, May 14.
Lula Townsend went to the J.L. King Sr. Memorial Park on Friday to exercise.
She said it felt good to get out of the house again.
"As a result of COVID we’ve been kind of locked up. It’s great to be back out in fresh air again to be able to do what we need to do for ourselves health wise," Townsend said.
Signs at the park caution park goers to social distance and limit group numbers to 10 people or less outdoors.
The sign also said the playground and park equipment are not sterilized.
