STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - The Starkville Board of Aldermen is considering parking meters downtown.
Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill said the board is considering parking meters to prevent congestion and encourage drivers to abide by the two-hour parking limit.
Business owners like Vanesha Williams of Swanky B Boutique said she likes the idea of parking meters on Main Street.
Williams said the parking meters would encourage people to eat and shop at the local businesses there.
She also said it’s convenient for shoppers because it prevents people from parking there all day.
Some residents said they dislike the idea of parking meters because it will deter people from spending their money downtown.
