Starkville police warn of phone scam

Starkville police are warning residents of a phone scam.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville police are warning residents of a phone scam.

Police say the calls have been related, requesting money for police in Mississippi or for a police foundation.

Police say the last phone number reported was 662-661-3585.

"The Starkville Police Department nor its affiliates will request money over the phone," Starkville police stated. "We ask that you never provide any personal information over the phone, to any organization, if you're unable to verify their legitimacy."
