STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville city leaders are looking to improve the quality of life for residents, including a plan to renovate three parks.
The mayor and Board of Aldermen are looking at estimates to upgrade Patriot’s, Moncrief and J.L. King parks.
J.L. King Park
The city is looking at adding larger restrooms and storage areas to J.L. King Park.
Mayor Lynn Spruill said Moncrief Park is old and houses the city’s only swimming pool. She said the park has the potential to have a pavilion area for parties and events. In addition to upgrading Moncrief's restrooms, Spruill said she wants to add decking around the pool.
Patriot’s Park also needs upgraded restrooms.
Before city leaders can move forward the renovations, Spruill said they need a cost estimate.
She said funds for the parks are set aside from the city’s general fund. These funds allow the city to do maintenance and improvements at local parks.
