LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Three people were transported to the hospital following a Lee County crash involving a sheriff's deputy.
The crash happened sometime near 10:55 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 278 and County Road 199 in the western half of Lee County.
The crash involved two vehicles. One vehicle was a Lee County Sheriff's Department-issued SUV. The other vehicle was a Toyota SUV.
When troopers arrived, it appeared the deputy was attempting to cross Highway 278 from County Road 199 when his vehicle collided with the westbound Toyota SUV, reports Master Sgt. Ray Hall.
The Toyota SUV was driven by 59-year-old Patricia Foradori of Aberdeen. She had a passenger with her.
The names of the passenger and deputy were not released by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Both Foradori and her passenger were taken to North Mississippi Medical Center (NMMC) with moderate injuries.
The deputy was also taken to NMMC to be treated for a head injury.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating.
