SUNFLOWER COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Delta law enforcement confirms a hostage situation has ended in tragedy.

Holmes County Sheriff Willie March says a girl was abducted from a home in Cruger by her father before 6:30 this morning. When officers got to the home, the father and child were gone.

Leflore County deputies intercepted the vehicle the father and child were traveling in then pursued the vehicle on Highway 82 West.

As the vehicle entered Sunflower County, the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and crashed into a ditch in Moorhead.

Deputies surrounded the vehicle as a precaution. However, they found the child and father dead.

Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood believes the father killed his daughter before killing himself inside the vehicle which led to it crossing the highway.

The father is identified as Lavonte Lloyd, 23. The daughter is identified as Kamayah Lloyd.
