NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - Law enforcement officers are searching in the Holly Springs area for three men who reportedly stole guns from a gun store and a safe from a gas station in New Albany.

New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson said a witness reported seeing three men break into 2A Armaments in downtown New Albany at approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday.

The front door at 2A Armaments is boarded up after police say three men broke into the building.

Police officers responded and found a car matching the description they were given. They chased after the car.

Holly Springs and Marshall County law enforcement officers used spike stripes to stop the car, but the three men ran away.

Holly Springs, which is in Marshall County, is northwest of Union County, where New Albany is located.

Robertson said law enforcement officers recovered the guns and also found a safe in the car.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., the Pure gas station in New Albany reported the store had been broken into and the store’s safe had been taken.

Robertson believes the safe officers recovered from the car is the same taken from the gas station.

He believes the men broke into the gas station first and then stole guns from the gun shop.

A New Albany police officer and a Holly Springs police officer were involved in minor crashes during the chase, the police chief said. The two officers were treated at the hospital in Oxford and have been released.
