TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - In the aftermath of tragic school shootings in Texas and Florida, the FBI and law enforcement across the country often see an increase in threats made to schools.
And school threats are familiar in north Mississippi, most are social media-related.
In the days after the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., several local schools experienced a rise threats. Some resulted in the arrests of minors.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says most students don't know that once something is posted online, it can spready quickly.
Law enforcement encourage students and parents who see or hear any potential threats online to report them to law enforcement immediately.
