TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - The Salvation Army in Tupelo desperately needs a new delivery truck. Its last truck broke down three weeks ago.
Major Jeff Daniel says a new truck will cost about $40,000.
"It's a monumental effort. Last year we served 120,000 meals," he said. "This year we've served 110,000 in six months."
Right now, it is costing about $1,500 a week to rent a Penske truck. They plan to return it Tuesday.
"When we have to take that money and rent something, it cumulatively can end up costing us as much, or more than a new truck," he added.
