SALTILLO, Miss. (WTVA) - Saturday, was a special day for one of the oldest residents at an assisted living facility in Lee County.
It's a celebration few get to enjoy, but Artilene Tutor did just that.
"Thanks, everybody for a wonderful birthday," Tutor said.
Tutor was born on April 3 in 1919. That was before WTVA's first newscast. Saturday, she celebrated her 102nd birthday.
Tutor lives at Generations Assisted living, her nurse described her as a light in the home.
"She's the most loving caring woman," Madison Ryan said. "She's been here for three years since I started and she's just so sweet."
Tutor's family knows her as the lady with a lot of spunk, but the people in the nursing home, know her as a track star.
"She's always running, she runs faster than us," Ryan said. "We always joke that when we get her down we will say you're not in a running race, you're not in track. But she's sweet and tries to make everybody's day."
On Saturday Tutor's family surrounded her to celebrate. Tutor even shared stories of when she was a little girl.
Tutor's family said they are not only happy she's still with them but that she defeated the Coronavirus.
