TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - It is never too early to get prepared. Here are some reminders of safe and unsafe places if the weather gets bad in your location.
The safest spot to be in a tornado is in a storm shelter or a basement.

In your safe spot, you need to have items such as pillows, blankets, water, flashlights and even a helmet.
If you don't have a storm shelter or a basement, a small interior room, like a closet, is going to be another good option. You want to have as many walls between you and the outside as possible.
A closet is a safe choice because it typically does not have any exterior windows or walls.
A car is unsafe because of the airflow under the car. This is also one of the reasons that mobile homes are unsafe. The winds are more likely to lift or knock over a mobile home or car.
