Runoff election to decide vacant Columbus City Council seat

A runoff election will determine who will fill the vacant Ward 4 seat on the Columbus City Council.

COLUMBUS, Miss (WTVA) - A runoff election will determine who will fill the vacant Ward 4 seat on the Columbus City Council.

Former councilman Fred Jackson resigned from the position in July. 

Six candidates were on Tuesday's ballot.

Pierre Beard Sr. and Kendra Gibbs-Gray received the most votes, but not enough to win the election.

A runoff between the two is set for Sept. 10.

  • Dorothy Lewis - 86
  • Kendra Gibbs-Gray - 195
  • Lavonne Harris - 66
