AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - Drivers in parts of Amory are facing delays because of work crews improving roads in the city.
Jamie McDonald, a district construction engineer with the Mississippi Department of Transportation, said paving work on Highway 278 in Amory began in September.

He said the road work just east of town started in August.
McDonald said the work needs to be completed before it gets too cold. He also said rain could possibly slow the work down.
To help with COVID-19 (coronavirus) prevention, workers limit the number of people inside a work vehicle and wear masks when social distancing is not possible.
He said some crews have had to quarantine because of coronavirus cases.
"Three that I can recall,” he said. “We have had minor delays due to quarantine."
McDonald said the road work in Amory is scheduled for completion by Thanksgiving.
