According to EMCC Board of Trustees Chairman Jimmie Moore, Young stated he felt there was a lack of confidence in his leadership ability and the best option was to step down.
Moore says the Board has reached out to a person to temporarily fill the position until a permanent solution is found.

SCOOBA, Miss. (WTVA) - Dr. Rick Young has resigned as East Mississippi Community College’s interim president.
The school made the announcement Wednesday.
Young's letter of resignation was submitted on Tuesday. His resignation is effective immediately.
Young assumed the role on May 18 following the resignation of former EMCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner.
The school did not release the reasoning behind Young’s decision.
