ABERDEEN, Miss. (WTVA) — Aberdeen voters will return to the polls in three weeks to decide who should be the city's next mayor.
Unofficial results show there will be a runoff between Doug Stone and Charles Scott.
Stone got 44 percent, and Scott got 32 percent in Tuesday's voting.
There were 227 absentee ballots in the special election, but 44 were not accepted for a variety of reasons.
The winner of the April 6 runoff will complete the remainder of the previous mayor's term
Former Aberdeen Mayor Maurice Howard pleaded guilty on Feb. 1 to embezzlement. As a result, he was removed from office.
His wife, Kenyatta Howard, ran in Tuesday's special election and finished third with 15 percent of the vote.
Six candidates in all ran in the special election.

Charles Scott 457 32%
Kenyatta Howard 220 15%
Alonzo Sykes Sr. 78 5%
Richard Caradine 26 2%
