STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) - Starkville Board of Aldermen held another public hearing for a proposed annexation Tuesday night.
Starkville Mayor Lynn Spruill posted an updated map of areas the Board of Aldermen is considering to annex.
She said the Board is focusing on areas to the eastern border of Starkville because they listened to the concerns of citizens in the previous public hearing.
Some residents who live in the proposed areas said they don't like the idea of annexation because of the higher taxes.
David Oswald, who lives on Ithaca Road, said he was attending the Tuesday night public hearing. He questions the intentions of the annexation because it helps the college kids, but does not benefit the working class.
