LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - Residents are upset, as drivers continue to ignore detour signs around Highway 178, where a landslide caused the roadway to be closed back in February.
Jimmy Morris lives on County Road 1310, where a significant amount of drivers are coming through.
"(They're) not slowing down. It's become very dangerous," Morris said. "Out of county plates, it's supposed to be local traffic only. It's not."
Morris says the road simply can't support all the traffic. He says it's been black topped several times, but with all the overweight trucks coming through, bumper to bumper traffic, it's proving tough and a worry for residents.
"I believe that somebody's going to end up hurt or killed on this road."
Morris says the situation is not only a danger, but disregard on the part of drivers.
"Slow down and respect us. Just slow down and respect the people that live on this road."
