UPDATE: Man hospitalized after Lowndes train accident

A man was taken to the hospital after reports someone was hit by a train in Lowndes County Thursday morning, first responders said.

According to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department, this incident is being considered an accident, but the railroad company involved will conduct its own investigation.

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WTVA) - A man was taken to the hospital after reports someone was hit by a train in Lowndes County Thursday morning, first responders said.

A call came in just after 3 a.m. that someone was hit by a train between Matson Rd and Television Rd, according to first responders. A man was found about 250 feet from Matson Rd and he was taken to the hospital. 

Thursday morning, Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge identified the man as Joseph Anthony Paone. His current condition is not known at this time.
