TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - A shooting Tuesday night in Tupelo claimed the life of a young man.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green identified the victim as Dreshawn Williams, 18, of Tupelo. She is sending Williams’ body to Pearl for an autopsy.
Police responded to the 400 block of North Broadway on May 5, 2020.
The shooting happened in the 400 block of North Broadway.

Tupelo Police Capt. Charles McDougald said an adult male victim was taken to the hospital in Tupelo and later died.
Following the shooting, police said they detained an adult male as a person of interest in the investigation.
Police later confirmed they arrested Jacquez Calvert, 20.
According to the Lee County jail roster, he was booked into the jail at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday. His charge is listed as murder.

The Tupelo Public School District later confirmed Williams was set to graduate from Tupelo High School Thursday afternoon.
