Rebels' Davis named SEC Coach of the Year

MSU's Quinndary Weatherspoon and Ole Miss' Breein Tyree were named All-SEC selections.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss head basketball coach Kermit Davis has been named the SEC's Coach of the Year by the Associated Press and the league's coaches, it was announced Tuesday.

Davis has led the Rebels to a 20-11 record in his first season. Ole Miss was picked to finish last in the league's preseason poll.

Mississippi State's Quinndary Weatherspoon was named First-Team All-SEC by the AP and the league's coaches.

Breein Tyree of OIe Miss was a first-team selection by the coaches and second team by AP. Tyree's teammate, Terence Davis, was a second-team selection by the coaches.

MSU's Reggie Perry was named to the All-Freshman Team by the coaches.

The SEC Tournament tips off Wednesday in Nashville.
