STARKVILLE, Miss. (WTVA) — Real estate agents are still selling houses, but they have changed their routines during the coronavirus pandemic.
Starkville Properties co-owner and principal broker, Melanie Mitchell, said their agents are independent contractors, so it was an easy transition to work from home.
She said thanks to technology agents are able to help clients by phone or on their computers.
Real estate agencies are considered essential businesses.
Mitchell said the agency locked their front office, so they can limit who can travel in and out.
Employees consistently sanitize surfaces and their hands, she said.
Agents also give sellers the option to continue showings of their homes.
To take precautions, agents ask sellers to keep the lights on, the doors unlocked and to clean surfaces so no one has to touch anything.
